Cheap Places to Retire Are Everywhere
By Gary Pierce
Cheap places to retire do not have to be trailer parks or soup kitchens. It requires just stopping and thinking about how cheap some lifestyles really are.
For instance, park model mobile home communities in Mesa Arizona are on the same street within 1/4 mile of multi-million dollar homes. In a park model community your monthly rent will be around $500 a month, the houses up the road pay that for pool service every two weeks.
Both residents breathe the same air, have the same scenery...one is a whole lot cheaper.
Full time RVing is another way to retire and live a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. What is the downside of traveling all the time? In Palm Springs, the lifestyles of the rich and famous, share the same air and scenery with a multitude of RV parks that charge $450 a month including utilities. Cheap places to retire are everywhere.
If you include retiring overseas, your Social Security check alone can provide you with a lifestyle you can only dream about in the US. Countries that are cheap and very close to the US include Mexico, Ecuador, and Panama. You really owe it to yourself to check these countries out. In Mexico, for instance your annual, not monthly, cost for health care is $270 per person. This includes everything, drugs, hospital stays, office visits and tests. In Ecuador, you can live very well with maid service, for $1,000 a month.
So finding the cheap places to retire is not that difficult if you are willing to examine some options you may have not thought about previously. I do not think living in a foreign country, RVing, or living in a park model surrounded by mansions is a step down at all. Enjoy.
