Great Places to Retire

Palm trees, no snow

At Great Retirement Places, we help retiring Baby Boomers with modest financial resources find affordable places to retire. The best places to live can be found in many areas of the world, but we focus on warm and sunny retirement places where palm trees flourish and where there’s no winter ice and snow.

If you have a large nest egg and/or a generous pension to look forward to, you may not need our help. If you are an investor looking for cheap properties to buy, look elsewhere. We want to help those with limited resources get the help they need to decide where to retire.

If you don’t mind winter snow and cold, you probably won’t need our help finding affordable places to retire. You’ll have many options especially in  the non-coastal areas of the USA. If you are content where you are and your home is paid for, you can probably retire comfortably there with modest means.

We want to help baby boomers who are concerned about not having enough money to retire, but who want to find an affordable retirement place offering a comfortable quality of life and a reasonable cost of living. We help you find great places to retire, where most homes sell for less than $250,000. Your retirement place might be among the cheapest places to live. It really depends on what factors are important to you.

If this brutal economy has left you with an even smaller budget and you seek an affordable retirement place for less than $100,000, please read about cheap places to retire. For some, renting is a better option. We’ll be looking for great rental opportunities as well.

Find Your Best Place to Retire

Our home here in the Midwest could be the best retirement place, but your hosts, Dave and Linda, just can’t handle the cold weather here most of the year. So, we need to decide where to retire. This website is about finding the best places to retire.

Complicating the search for answers, most retirement websites offer little more than real estate “opportunities,” financial planning services, or yet another list of the top 10 places to retire. You want actionable information without financial bias, and that’s what we offer you.

As we approach full retirement, we spend more and more time exploring warm places in the USA and overseas. Sharing our findings with you seems like a great idea; we hope we can help you find your best place to retire.

We have visited many retirement communities with homes that range from beachside rentals to manufactured homes to tropical condos, townhouses, and villas. We report on what we find on this website and our Boomers Blog.

Senior Living Retirement Options

If your health is declining or you just need a little help with daily living, perhaps independent living, assisted living, or even a nursing home might be right for you. These are great senior living communities offering a vibrant social environment, convenient, comfortable living, and just the level of care you need. Speak with family, friends, and your personal physician about whether one of these communities would be right for you; we don’t explore these options at Great Retirement Places.
